With an electric bike, you can commute farther.
There are two ways in which electric bikes can make your commute longer, depending on your perspective.
Generally, the faster you ride, the further you can go in a given period. You may not care how many miles per hour you go; instead, you want to know that you can arrive at work in 15 or 20 minutes.
Electric bikes can also get you to work if your schedule only allows a 20-minute commute. You would need to be less than four miles away for a pedal-powered bike to get you to work or school. In the same amount of time, you could go nearly seven miles on an electric bike.
A pedal-assist system proportionally increases the power of each stroke so that you can ride farther on an electric bike for the same amount of effort.
With an electric bike, you’ll be able to commute ten miles comfortably and enjoyably. When you’re just starting, pedaling ten miles might be challenging.
